Wow! Reached 300 Subs on YouTube!

The growth in the last 12 months after posting two key videos has been nuts! I’ve gone from 15 subs to 300! That’s 1,900% growth! I think. I never was good at percentage of increase calculations. Please correct me if I am wrong.

If you are wondering about the videos that helped me grow, check them out here:

Thank you, every one of you, for your support!

My first real YouTube Short is taking off!

Relatively speaking that is. Most of my videos usually have 1-3 views in the first 24 hours. My top watched vids right now started with around 30-40 views in the first day. But this Dying Light short summary is already at 600+ views and I only published it yesterday! That’s neat!

Why do I have a YouTube Channel?

😉

I post video game content on YouTube. Yes, I stream on Twitch, but YouTube is supposedly how to grow a Twitch channel. Why? Because Twitch does not have special algorithms of discovery and suggested content among other reasons, one grows by resorting to things like YouTube instead. Why do I have a YouTube Channel? It’s to help my Twitch stream grow. Essentially, it allows my community that I am building to grow while I am not live.

And it is hard. I have spent over a year on YouTube and have amassed 18 subscribers. I can tell you the things that I have tried, which have not worked:

  • Twitch archives of past streams
  • How-to videos of games that are no longer trending
  • Informative videos about future games that are not all the rage
  • Personal videos to get to know the host

I am still trying to find my niche. I think I need to stick to how-to videos, so I am going to come up with 10 per my outlined actions to fulfill my dreams. Once Halo 6 and Dying Light 2 come out, that may help. In the mean time, I’m making a ton of videos to learn and refine my editing and graphics skills and also trying different templates/scripts/storyboards. I gotta hone it and own it!

What tips or tricks do you have for me for making my YouTube Channel the best it can possibly be? What has worked for you? What did not work? Any sage advice would be appreciated!
